New Year, New You: Top 4 Health Trends -- What Will Change in 2022?

Over the past year, the pandemic continued to transform how we live, work, and take care of ourselves, leading us to rethink how we approach diet and health (physical and mental). Check out these top trends in the health industry over the past year and let us know how you think our health priorities will continue to change in the coming year.

1. Immunity Boosting

-Since the start of the pandemic, there’s been a renewed focus on immunity-boosting vitamins and foods such as K2 and Vitamin C.

-There has also been more talk about adaptogens like ashwagandha and rhodiola - adaptogens help augment immunity, impact the release of cortisol in the body, and improve resistance to physical and emotional effects of stress.

2. Sleep Innovation
-The impact of the pandemic is fueling growth in sleep innovation, as consumers suffer from lack of sleep due to anxiety and stress.
-This is leading to a more scientific approach (e.g., smart mattresses, connected lighting) to sleep.

-The Global Wellness Summit predicts that there will be a new focus on circadian health, which relates to aligning behaviors with natural circadian rhythms.

3. Food Transparency
-Consumers are becoming more curious about how food is produced, what it contains and where it is sourced/grown.

-Transparency related to ethical production practices, environmental impact and information on product labels are influencing consumer behaviors.
-Transparency will make it easier for consumers to select brands they trust and those that align with their values.

4. Virtual Fitness

-More and more virtual studios are offering exercise classes, yoga retreats, etc.
-Virtual fitness classes provide access to a community and real-time instruction.
